Level descriptions for Stages 1-7

Our swimming lessons follow Swim England’s trusted framework and are tailored to suit every age and ability, all within a safe and encouraging environment. Below, you’ll find a breakdown of each stage, so you can easily identify the right level for you or your child.

This is our entry-level stage, designed specifically for non-swimmers and those who may be less confident in the water. It provides a gentle introduction to swimming, with a focus on building trust, water confidence, and basic movement skills in a safe and supportive environment.

This stage is designed for water-confident children who are still at the beginner level. It is ideal for swimmers who are able to float, submerge, and jump into the water independently, and are ready to start developing early stroke and coordination skills in a structured learning environment.

This stage is for water-confident children who can independently swim 5 metres on their front and back without the use of flotation aids. The focus is on refining technique, building stamina, and introducing more structured stroke development in a supportive and engaging environment.

This stage is designed for children who can confidently swim 10 metres unaided on both their front and back. Swimmers at this level will demonstrate basic kicking technique, streamlining, and rotational skills, as they continue to develop efficiency and coordination in the water.

This stage is for children who can competently swim 10 metres, demonstrating basic swimming strokes and performing efficient kicks across all four strokes. At this level, swimmers will focus on improving stroke technique, endurance, and overall swimming efficiency in a more structured and challenging environment.

This stage is for children who can proficiently swim 10 metres using front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Swimmers at this level will also focus on performing efficient sculling and treading water skills, further enhancing their technique, stamina, and overall swimming proficiency.

This stage is for children who can efficiently swim 20 metres using full strokes with correct breathing techniques. Swimmers will also focus on mastering a range of personal survival skills, building confidence in their ability to swim long distances and handle a variety of water situations with safety and control.

Special Educational Needs (SEN) Swimming Lessons

Our 1-1 SEN swimming lessons provide a supportive and structured environment tailored to each swimmer’s unique needs.

A parent or guardian will remain poolside throughout the lesson. This helps guide, our instructor, to understand the swimmer’s specific needs and triggers, ensuring a positive and practical learning experience.
